We specialise in crafting enduring garments, including classic pieces like t-shirts, sweatshirts, and denim, using rare vintage machinery from renowned industrial sewing machine brands such as Union Special, Singer, Reece, Pegasus, and more. Our commitment to traditional craftsmanship is reflected in our application of vintage sewing techniques, ranging from chain stitch hemming for a distinctive roping effect in denim to freehand chainstitch embroidery, keyhole buttonholes, felled seams, and bartacks. TEXTILE MACHINERY
HQI Workshop is driven by a deep interest and obsession in specialist industrial textile machinery from both the pioneering, cutting-edge of modern engineering to the distant past of traditional, artisanal ‘slow vintage’ machines. In terms of modern machinery we work with suppliers who specialise in various types of bonded fabric laminations and membranes which give waterproof/water-resistant and breathable functionality as well as circular and flatbed knitting machines. For vintage machinery we work with suppliers who produce fabrics from shuttle looms to create woven selvedge fabrics, together with the ultra-rare loopwheel (or ‘Tsuri’ in Japanese) circular knitting machines.
